The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with a delegation from the Zagreb Society of Architects. This Society, Croatia’s largest association of architects, has been actively operating for seventy years. Their primary goal is to foster the development and promotion of Croatian architecture and urbanism, as well as to advocate for the preservation of the human environment and the culture of space.

During the meeting, led by Ivan Križić, President of the Society, the delegation introduced President Milanović to their ongoing work and initiatives. They highlighted the Society’s role as a nurturing ground for numerous architects and urban planners over the years, each contributing to the fabric of Zagreb and Croatia through their endeavours. Emphasizing the significance of architecture and urbanism in driving both economic and cultural advancement, they underscored their focus on spatial planning and urban renewal. They articulated that without robust spatial and urban planning, alongside initiatives for urban rejuvenation, any sustainable long-term policies in Croatia would be unattainable.

Accompanying Ivan Križić, the President of the Zagreb Society of Architects, were other notable members including Tihomil Matković, Ervin Mihelj, Tea Helman Jukić, and Zrinka Barišić Marenić from the Society’s Steering Committee. Additionally, Tihomir Jukić, an honorary member of the Society, was also present at the meeting with the President of the Republic.

President Milanović was accompanied by Zdravko Zima, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Culture.
