President Milanović: I thank all the members of civil protection for contributing to the safety and well-being of Croatian citizens and the state with their knowledge, commitment and efforts

On the occasion of World Civil Defense Day and Civil Protection Day of the Republic of Croatia, President Zoran Milanović extends congratulations to members of civil protection in the Republic of Croatia. The message reads:

“Today in Croatia we are marking Civil Protection Day of the Republic of Croatia and World Civil Defense Day. I congratulate members of all services within the civil protection system in our Homeland, and thank them for contributing to the safety and well-being of Croatian citizens and the state with their knowledge, commitment and efforts.

Members of civil protection – firefighters, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, the Red Cross and many other services – provide support and assistance promptly and effectively to people in distress, repair the consequences and damages caused by natural disasters or human negligence, but also preventively lessen risks and threats to lives and property.

I especially wish to highlight that the great majority of civil protection members work on a voluntary basis, exclusively led by their heart, their humaneness and their wish to help other people and their Homeland. And this is precisely a guarantee to everyone in Croatia that we can rely on their assistance in the future as well.”
