Delegation of the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin Presents President Milanović with Monograph on Varaždin Theatre’s 150 Years of Operation

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today a delegation from the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin, which presented him with the monograph “150 godina kazališta u Varaždinu” [150 Years of the Varaždin Theatre], a comprehensive and significant work that chronicles the rich history of the theatre building and the important individuals who have contributed to the performing arts within it.

The promotional event for the monograph took place at the end of January. During the meeting, it was highlighted that the monograph covers an impressive creative period, from the construction of the Varaždin theatre building in 1873 to the present day, with contributions from experts in various fields. The monograph showcases all individuals who have contributed to the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin, using their artistic and organizational skills to maintain its operation, particularly those who played a decisive role in preserving the theatre’s identity.

Theatre manager Senka Bulić mentioned that throughout the previous year the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin had celebrated 150 years of operation in various ways, emphasizing that the monograph “150 godina kazališta u Varaždinu” serves as the pinnacle of this significant jubilee. During the presentation of the monograph, she highlighted that Vesna Kosec-Torjanac, the editor of the monograph and the primary author of its texts, along with being a dramaturge at the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin, assembled a team of 10 experts. Together, they guide the reader through the institution’s history and introduce the individuals who shaped it.

In addition to theatre manager Senka Bulić, leading actor Robert Plemić, drama actor Marinko Leš, leading drama actress Ljiljana Bogojević, leading drama actress Helena Minić Matanić, and drama actress Elizabeta Brodić attended the meeting in the Office of the President.

Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Culture Zdravko Zima accompanied President Milanović at the event.
