President Milanović Receives Croatian Pianist Lovre Marušić, Recipient of Major Music Awards
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović today received Croatian pianist Lovre Marušić, who was awarded a silver medal and the Robert Schumann Award at the prestigious International Telekom Beethoven Piano Competition 2023 in Bonn, Germany. Congratulating him on his success, President Milanović expressed satisfaction that such an internationally renowned pianist holds a position at the Zagreb Academy of Music.
Lovre Marušić is a member of the Department of Piano at the Zagreb Academy of Music. As a soloist and chamber musician, he performs at various festivals and concerts both in Croatia and around the world. Notably, Marušić serves as the artistic director of the Ostinato International Chamber Music Festival in Omiš, Croatia. His international acclaim has been reinforced in recent years through numerous awards, including a silver medal at the 2021 Cleveland International Piano Competition, the first prize at the 2018 20th Santa Cecilia International Competition in Porto, and another first prize at the 2018 IMF International Competition in Paris.
During the meeting, Lovre Marušić shared his plans for the upcoming season with President Milanović, in his role as a soloist and chamber musician. He outlined his participation in three tours in China, a collaboration with the Slovak Philharmonic for performances in Slovakia, Slovenia, and Croatia, as well as concerts in Italy, Austria, Germany, Portugal, and Spain. Marušić is set to showcase his talent alongside renowned orchestras at prestigious festivals in these countries.
Pianist Lovre Marušić was accompanied by his manager Danijel Gašparović at the meeting in the Office of the President, while President Milanović was accompanied by Zdravko Zima, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Culture.
