President Milanović Receives Athletes who Won 14 Medals at World Para Taekwondo Championships
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today the female and male athletes of the Croatian Poomsae Para Taekwondo national team, who won medals at the recently held World Championships in Mexico, together with the delegation of the Croatian Para Taekwondo Federation. The Croatian Poomsae Para Taekwondo national team won as many as 14 medals in the technical disciplines at the recently held World Championship in Mexico: 10 gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal.
Speaking about the achieved results, representatives of the Croatian Para Taekwondo Federation pointed out that thanks to the large number of medals won, Croatia took the overall first place at the World Championships, as well as first place in the technical disciplines in the men’s competition and the second place in the technical disciplines in the women’s competition. They emphasized that it was a unique achievement because it was the first time in the history of para taekwondo that one national team won so many medals. The Croatian Para Taekwondo Federation is a national sports federation of taekwondo clubs for persons with disabilities that encourages and promotes the sport of para taekwondo among persons with disabilities.
Also attending the meeting in the Office of the President, apart from the President of the Croatian Para Taekwondo Federation and coach Kristijan Škravan, and the Director of the Federation and Technical Section manager Martina Peranović, were the gold medal winners at the World Championships in Mexico Leon Božo Škravan, Domagoj Vujčić, Mateo Škara, Tihana Preksavec, Ivona Budišćak, Senada Halilčević, Stipe Barić, Daniela Topić, Roko Boduljak and Karla Lukač; silver medal winners Mario Komorčec, Filip Cimaš and Bruno Živković; and bronze medal winner Biserka Sambol. With them were the 9th place winners Viktor Frane Gligo and Kristijan Burušić, and team leader Borna Soro, coaches Matija Soro and Marijo Rendulić, assistants Viktorija Mihalić, Jasna Jakuš Topolovec, Lidija Vujčić, Josip Šteko and Mihaela Topić, as well as assistant coaches Anton Maras and Jerneja Bambić.
President Milanović was accompanied by the Commissioner of the President of the Republic for Sports Željko Jovanović.
