President Milanović Receives Organizers and Participants of the 14th Congress of the Croatian Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation of the Croatian Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the participants of the 14th Congress of the Society, which was held on Friday in Zagreb. The organizers of the conference were the Croatian Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Special Hospital for Ophthalmology “Svjetlost” from Zagreb.
At the 14th Congress entitled “New trends in ophthalmology,” over 400 ophthalmologists from all over the world participated, and 40 lecturers presented the latest achievements and discoveries in ophthalmology with a special emphasis on cataract surgery, refractive surgery and the treatment of retinal diseases, said Nikica Gabrić, President of the Croatian Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Among the conference participants was one of the most esteemed ophthalmologists in the world, Lucio Burratto, a pioneer of refractive surgery, who received a lifetime achievement award at the meeting for his contribution to the development of ophthalmology.
The Croatian Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery was established in 2005 and is a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Attending the meeting together with Nikica Gabrić were Lucio Buratto (Centro Ambrosiano Oftamolico), Sheraz Mansoor Daya (Center for Sight), Marcela Milagros Lagana (Center for Sight) and Ivan Gabrić (Special Hospital for Ophthalmology “Svjetlost”). President Milanović was accompanied by the Adviser to the President of the Republic Jadranka Žarković.
