President Milanović Receives Young Roboticists Representing Croatia at World Competition in Singapore

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with young roboticists of “Team Croatia” and their mentors from the “Centar za tehnološki razvoj i STEM obrazovanje – Pozitron” (Centre for Technological Development and STEM Education – Pozitron) of Rovinj. The meeting was held on the occasion of their forthcoming trip to Singapore to participate in the FIRST Global Challenge 2023 to be held there. President Milanović wished them success at the competition.

“Team Croatia” is a team of roboticists made up of secondary school students from several cities in Istria: Marija Šimunović, Stefano Propat, Adrian Legović, Leon Matejčić and Ana Sošić,  team leaders Iva Sošić and Maša Šverko, and mentors Lovro Šverko, Jelena Svilar, Lara Kukec and Alen Vinčić. The young roboticists of Istria successfully passed the national qualifications this year thus securing their place in the FIRST Global Challenge 2023 robotics competition as representatives of Croatia. They demonstrated to President Milanović the robot with which they won the qualifications and the project with which they will compete in Singapore.

The team leaders and mentors of the young roboticists explained to President Milanović that the “Pozitron” Centre is a result of an initiative by a number of enthusiasts who wanted to provide best quality education to children and youth in computing, robotics and programming. The members are teachers who are experts in electrical engineering and computing with a vast experience in project works in those subjects.

Alongside President Milanović at the meeting was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka Žarković.
