President Milanović Receives Association of Croatian National Guard’s 108th Brigade Slavonski Brod on Anniversary of its Foundation
The President of the Republic met today with representatives of the Association of the Croatian National Guard’s 108th Brigade Slavonski Brod on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Brigade’s foundation.
Association President Paula Vdovjak and Executive Committee members Krunoslav Zadravec and Mladen Bebek presented to President Milanović the activity of the Association that numbers over one thousand members. The Association’s main goal is to preserve and promote the war service record and significance of the Croatian National Guard’s 108th Brigade. The Brigade was formed on 28 June 1991 in Podcrkavlje and Sibinj. During the Homeland War, more than 5,500 members filed through the Brigade; 182 members were killed in action and 850 were wounded.
At the meeting there was also talk of the 108th Brigade’s role in the Homeland War and of the current livelihood issues and health problems of Croatian defenders including former Brigade members.
Attending the meeting with President Milanović was the Special Adviser for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković.
