President Milanović Awards Berets to Members of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion “Spiders”
The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović attended on Friday a swearing-in ceremony and the awarding of berets to members of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion “Spiders” at the former Dračevac barracks in Split. At the ceremony, red berets were awarded and the oath was taken by 50 members of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion “Spiders” of the Croatian Army’s Guards Mechanized Brigade.
Apart from President Milanović, red berets were presented to members of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion “Spiders” by the President of the 4th Guards Brigade “Spiders” Veterans’ Association Borislav Lapenda, Deputy Prime Minister and Croatia’s War Veterans’ Affairs Minister Tomo Medved, Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Admiral Robert Hranj, Chief Adviser to the Minister of Defense Major General Željko Živanović, Commander of the Croatian Army Lieutenant General Boris Šerić, Commander of the Croatian Army Guards Mechanized Brigade Brigadier General Dražen Ressler, Chief of the General Staff Mirko Šundov (retd), Commander of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion “Spiders“ Lieutenant Colonel Ivica Armanda, and member of the Presidency of the 4th Guards Brigade “Spiders” Veterans’ Association Lieutenant Colonel Mirko Čondić (retd).
On the occasion of marking the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the 4th Guards Brigade “Spiders,” President Milanović paid tribute to the fallen, deceased and missing Croatian veterans by laying wreaths in the Holy Cross Memorial Chapel.
Accompanying President Milanović at the swearing-in ceremony and the awarding of berets to members of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion “Spiders” were the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Defense Ivica Olujić, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković, Head of the Military Office in the Cabinet for Defense and National Security of the Office of the President Rear Admiral Predrag Stipanović, and Aide-de-Camp to the President of the Republic Colonel Vlado Čulina.
