The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today in the Office of the President representatives of the Association of Homeland War Veterans and Anti-Fascists VeDRA and members of the organizing committee of the event “Vice Buljan Days in Sinj 2023.” The President of the VeDRA Association Ranko Britvić and the Chairman of the organizing committee Stipe Batarelo informed President Milanović about the preparations that are underway and with the programme of the event, which will be held on 2-3 June 2023 in Sinj.

The two-day event “Vice Buljan Days in Sinj 2023” is dedicated to Vice Buljan, a Croatian politician from the town of Sinj who, the delegation said, left a deep mark on the overall development of the town and the wider Cetinska Krajina region. Buljan was born in 1905 in Sinj. Before the Second World War he served as the head of the municipality of Sinj and was afterwards one of the leaders of the anti-fascist movement in Dalmatia. He held a ministerial post, served as a public representative and was also known as an Alkar of Sinj and alkarski vojvoda, the tournament master.

The representatives of the VeDRA Association and the organizing committee expressed their hope that this event, which is being held for the first time this year, will become a tradition and that every year it will be dedicated to a famous anti-fascist from Dalmatia whose initiatives benefited Dalmatia and all of Croatia.

The Vice President of the VeDRA Association Major General Luka Džanko (retd) of the Croatian Army and the President of the Supervisory Board Ratomir Vranješ also attended the meeting in the Office of the President, except for the President of the VeDRA Association Ranko Britvić and the Chairman of the organizing committee Stipe Batarelo.

President Milanović was accompanied by the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić.
