The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović, who is on an Official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, met in Cairo today with the Prime Minister of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly and with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Egypt Hanafy Gebaly.
A tête-à-tête was held between President Milanović and the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly, and was followed by a bilateral meeting between members of the Croatian and Egyptian delegations.
The President of the Republic ended his Official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Parliament of Egypt by meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Egypt Hanafy Gebaly.
The focus of today’s discussions was on bilateral relations between the two states, namely economic relations and opportunities for further strengthening economic cooperation between Croatia and Egypt. They primarily discussed cooperation in the tourism and energy sectors, and possible investments in industrial zones in the Suez area. During the talks with the Prime Minister, it was underlined that mutual economic relations do not correspond with the two countries’ political relations. Croatia’s entry into the Schengen Area and the euro area was highlighted as an additional incentive for developing trade and increasing the presence of Egyptian companies in the European market.
Attending the meetings alongside the President of the Republic were the Head of the Office of the President Orsat Miljenić, the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Arab Republic of Egypt Tomislav Bošnjak, the Adviser to the President for Foreign and European Policy Neven Pelicarić and the Special Adviser to the President for the Economy Velibor Mačkić.
