President Milanović Meets with Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania Lindita Nikolla

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania Lindita Nikolla, who is participating in Zagreb in the First Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform.

At the meeting in the Office of the President they discussed bilateral relations between Croatia and Albania, which were assessed as being friendly and allied. They agreed that there are opportunities for strengthening economic relations between the two states. They also exchanged views on the situation in South East Europe including the European Union enlargement process. President Milanović confirmed Croatia’s support for Albania in its path towards membership in the European Union and expressed the need for accelerating the accession process.

In the delegation of the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania Lindita Nikolla were the Deputy Speaker Agron Gjekmarkaj, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania in the Republic of Croatia Riza Poda, Member of Parliament Shpresa Marnoj, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Speaker of the Parliament Kosta Barjaba, Adviser to the Speaker of the Parliament Ejona Isufaj, Adviser to the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Dorian Gjomarkaj, Communications Director in the Parliament of the Republic of Albania Manjola Arizaj and the Minister Counsellor in the Embassy of the Republic of Albania to the Republic of Croatia Alma Kasa.

Alongside President Milanović at the meeting were the Head of the Cabinet of the President Bartol Šimunić, the Adviser to the President for Foreign and European Policy Neven Pelicarić, Adviser to the President for Defense and National Security Dragan Lozančić and the Secretary of the Cabinet for Foreign and European Policy Ivan Mutavdžić.
