President Milanović Pays Tribute to Police Officer Josip Jović, First Homeland War Victim

On the 29th anniversary of Operation Plitvice and the death of Josip Jović, the first Croatian police officer killed in the Homeland War, the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović lit a candle at the Memorial Monument to Josip Jović at Plitvice Lakes.  

President Milanović was accompanied by Special Adviser to the President for Homeland War Veterans Lieutenant General Marijan Mareković (retd). The President’s envoy Brigadier Darko Podrug, Head of the Croatian Navy Commander’s Office, lit a candle at Jović’s grave in Aržano.

As the first victim of the Homeland War, Josip Jović was killed on 31 March 1991 on Easter Sunday.
