The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović hosted and participated in the “Diplomatic Grape Harvest” in the foothills of Mount Plešivica, an event that is traditionally organized for the heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Croatia. The town of Jastrebarsko was the organizer of the grape harvest, which was held in its surroundings for the seventh consecutive time, this year in the Tomac Family Vineyard.

“This region is one of two Croatian regions, Istria and Plešivica, which particularly stepped up in terms of quality and visibility in the last thirty years. Croatia has a culture and history of winemaking. Grapevines were planted and grown, wine was stored in cellars a bit less, but practically in most of Croatia,” said President Milanović in his speech at the event, pointing out that the developments on Plešivica and in the Tomac Family are a very good and desired model for Croatian tourism. “A smaller quantity and higher quality, which justifies a higher price,” the President explained.

“I want Plešivica to highlight its unique terrain, special conditions for growing, making and storing wine, and to build its quality and a justified price on that – just what Croatian tourism as a whole has started to do by concentrating on quality and visibility,” President Milanović concluded. Apart from President Milanović, the Mayor of Jastrebarsko Zvonimir Novosel and owner of the Tomac Family Vineyard Tomislav Tomac delivered remarks before the heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Croatia.
