President Milanović Meets with University of Split Faculty of Economics Delegation

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović held a meeting today at the Office of the President with representatives of the University of Split Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism on the occasion of an international conference, “European challenges,” which is being held under the auspices of the President of the Republic in May next year.

The international scientific conference “European challenges” has been organised by the faculty since 1995 and Dean Vinko Muštra presented the project to President Milanović along with his associates Vice Dean for Business Branka Marasović, Vice Dean for Science and International Cooperation Maja Ćukušić and Financial Department Head Josip Visković.

The conference has attracted more than 2,000 authors with more than 1,500 papers from more than 60 countries, the organisers said and explained that the basic aim was to attract eminent world scientists and experts to debate and promote the exchange of knowhow and innovation. They underscored that this is the only conference in Croatia and in this part of Europe at which Nobel Prize winners for the economy participate. During the meeting, there was talk of the problem of absorbing EU funds in higher education institutions. The current situation in Croatia regarding science was also discussed.

Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy Velibor Mačkić and Assistant Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy Martina Ciglević were alongside President Milanović at the meeting.
