The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received in the Office of the President of the Republic representatives of the European Talent Centre Croatia, Programme Manager Miroslav Huđek and his associates. They acquainted the President with the path undertaken to establish the Centre, their current activities and the thematic international conference on highly motivated and talented pupils held on 22 April this year.

The European Talent Centre (ETC) has been designed as a centre that assembles, coordinates and stimulates the work of institutions with highly talented (gifted) pupils. There are 25 such centres around the world. It was emphasized that in order to become a member very strict criteria have to be met and the Centres of Excellence of Varaždin County are the only ones to have satisfied them from the Republic of Croatia.

ETC Croatia is working on promoting cooperation among all institutions and organizations that deal with gifted pupils, and provide complete professional support to various groups of gifted and talented pupils through programmes that are accessible to everyone. With a special accent on the importance of vocational education, all programmes have been designed to meet the educational, social and emotional needs in the development of the  careers of pupils with great abilities and/or strong interests and motivation despite their social-economic, cultural and ethnic origin. The representatives of the European Talent Centre Croatia noted that at the end of 2020 the Centres of Excellence of Varaždin County became the only institutional member of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children from Croatia.

Present at the meeting with President Milanović besides the Programme Manager of the European Talent Centre Croatia Miroslav Huđek, were the Deputy Head for International Cooperation and Scientific Work Robert Kelemen, the Assistant Head for Operational Programmes Sanja Herceg and the Assistant Head for Scientific and Professional development Snježana Pejnović. Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education Jadranka Žarković.
