President Milanović Attends Promotion of Book about Velimir Zajec

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended tonight at the Komedija Municipal Theatre an official promotion of the book “Zeko-biografija Velimira Zajeca,” a biography about Velimir Zajec, former player, coach and professional football manager of the Dinamo Zagreb club and of the Greek club Panathinaikos.

The author of the biography about Velimir Zajec is Sanjin Španović, who conducted more than a hundred interviews with 96 interlocutors from all stages of Zajec’s career for the purpose of writing the book that also contains over 150 photographs, many of which have never been seen in public.

The promotion of the book was held on the day when 40 years ago Zajec, as the then Dinamo Zagreb captain, learned together with the rest of his team that Dinamo, after waiting for 24 years, had become the Yugoslav champion. Recollecting Dinamo Zagreb’s many successes at the promotion in the company of Velimir Zajec were the 1982 Dinamo coach Miroslav Ćiro Blažević, football historian Anton Samovojska and author of the biography about Velimir Zajec Sanjin Španović.

Commissioner of the President of the Republic for Sports Željko Jovanović attended the book promotion alongside President Milanović.
