President Milanović at Croatian Armed Forces General Staff – Discussion on Military and Security Situation following Aggression against Ukraine

The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović attended an extended staff meeting of the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces held at the General Staff headquarters.

At the extended staff meeting of the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, discussion centred around the military and security situation in Ukraine, as well as in the region, in the aftermath of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Furthermore, it included a presentation and discussion on NATO’s activities in the newly arisen situation and, in that context, the Republic of Croatia’s obligations as an Alliance member. They also talked about the state in the Armed Forces, analyzing all the branches and commands of the Croatian Army.

In addition to the Chief of the General Staff Admiral Robert Hranj and his Deputy Lieutenant General Siniša Jurković, also in attendance were all Croatian Army branches commanders: Lieutenant General Boris Šerić, Commander of the Croatian Ground Forces; Rear Admiral Ivo Raffanelli, Commander of the Croatian Navy; Brigadier General Michael Križanac, Commander of the Croatian Air Force; Lieutenant General Mladen Fuzul, Commander of the Support Command; and Colonel Ivan Miloš, Commander of the Special Forces.

Also participating were the Heads of the Directorates of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, the Commander of the Operational Command Centre, the Deputy Commander of the Croatian Military Academy, the Assistant to the Head of the General Staff for Health Services, the first NCO of the General Staff, and via video link the Commanders of General Staff units.

Alongside the President of the Republic was Dragan Lozančić, Adviser to the President for Defense and National Security.
