The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović held a meeting today in the Office of the President of the Republic with participants of the military police operation “Otkos 10”, one of the Croatian army’s first liberating operations in the Homeland War.

They discussed the military police operation “Otkos 10”, which was already successfully carried out towards the end of 1991 on the western Slavonian battlefield liberating the occupied parts of Bilogora. Underlining the importance of this first and, as they said, very significant military police operation in the Homeland War, the participants informed President Milanović of their initiative to institute a memorial medal that would be dedicated to the first liberating military police operations in western Slavonia in 1991.

The military police operation “Otkos 10” – along with operations “Orkan 91” and “Papuk” were significant for the defense and liberation of occupied parts of Croatia and in some way heralded Operation Flash. The participants told President Milanović that it’s high time that this military police operation be valued and given the status it deserves.

Attending the meeting with President Milanović were participants of the military police operation “Otkos 10” Vedran Černy, Franjo Kovačević, Hamdija Mašinović, Milan Filipović, Ivan Korenić and the director of the Croatian Memorial Documentation Centre of the Homeland War Ante Nazor.

Alongside President Milanović was the Special Adviser to the President for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković.
