President Milanović Warns: There’s a Plan to Amend Dayton, It’s Obvious
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended the formal session marking the 75th anniversary of the Croatian Association of the Blind at Vidra theatre. Subsequently, he took questions from reporters including vaccination and the relaxation of restrictions.
Things are slowly getting back to normal, not too quickly, but from day to day. I think that’s fine, people are getting vaccinated, President Milanović said. He also commented on the work of the COVID-19 response team: “Had I formed the response team, besides the Health Minister probably no one else would be a card-carrying member. This is an issue of confidence because too often we’ve seen that the response team synchronized its decisions with the HDZ leadership and Plenković, which suited them. It was plain to see even for a child, and this shouldn’t be done because it’s intruding on fundamental civil liberties, not rights. It was done in a way in which it should never be done anymore. Ultimately, Croatia has 2000 deaths on one million inhabitants, which puts it at the top”, President Milanović said.
“The persons that are vaccinated are better protected, however as long as part of the population is not vaccinated, the virus has an environment in which it spreads. Unfortunately, today everyone is an expert. I can only call on people to get the vaccine. Currently there are more vaccines than ever before. Some people are watching, observing, analyzing to see what will happen to those who got vaccinated”, President Milanović told reporters when talking about the rights of vaccinated citizens and those who aren’t vaccinated.
He commented on the fact that Prime Minister Plenković isn’t responding to him. “As long as he keeps quiet, my life is more pleasant. I see that he’s sending his associates to me. Fine, but at least send lions, not poodles. That’s a transparent childish tactic”, President Milanović replied, and repeated that he busies himself with matters that are in his power. “I led a delegation to the NATO summit. Everyone knows what was happening there, the whole Mission knows, the kind of problem we’re facing. It’s a small conspiracy. There’s a plan to amend Dayton, it’s obvious. At the same time Dodik is punished because he’s violating Dayton – therefore that’s the official explanation – and efforts are frantically being made to prevent the mention of the Dayton agreement in the part of the communiqué that deals with Bosnia and Herzegovina”, President Milanović noted.
Asked who’s behind this, he repeated: “A whole series of Western states, but not on the high level. The mice would like to play. They can’t get Angela Merkel’s attention regarding relations between Komšić and Dodik. Indeed, her stance is much closer to ours. But there’s a whole series of people in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin that unfortunately belong to my former political option who are experimenting, they want to create a utopia of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a state of three nations”.
The director of the Military Security and Intelligence Agency (VSOA) has my confidence”, the President answered when asked if he has his confidence after it was revealed that there were some irregularities in the work of the Agency. “When talking about the Military Security and Intelligence Agency, we should take into account that these are military people not civilians, not journalists, not teachers, therefore the subjects of their work and processing are military people. I won’t comment any further, I don’t believe anyone until there’s proof. Should I see that the Agency has processed journalists, then that’s a problem”, President Milanović concluded.
